MOTHER 2 Screen Replicas and New Plushies?!

On March 8th at 11 AM (JST), the Hobonichi launched its newest line of merchandise, MOTHER 2 screen replicas! These are large, professional printed replicas of classic MOTHER 2 areas, framed in wood ready to be hung in your home! They are made in collaboration with Toppan Graphics Communications Co, who previously helped with a line of MOTHER 1 screen replicas. Since these are made of the highest quality materials, they are custom made by request – so once the ordering period closes on March 31st at 11 AM JST, they’re gone forever!

Moonside and Fourside, two sides of one coin!

Hobonichi describes the Screen Replica line as follows:

“The MOTHER series has very special graphics. There’s a unique beauty to their unconventional edges, bright colors, and design. It’s enough to want to hang it on your wall to keep enjoying. We followed through on that concept by creating a number of different prototypes in hopes of achieving the feeling of the game having been cut directly out of the screen and hung on your wall. The print contains no bleeding and no dullness, and has a crisp, vivid look.

This second series of replica screens comes in 5 designs, all based on EarthBound. EarthBound is the second installment in the MOTHER series, released in Japan as MOTHER 2 on August 27, 1994. Designs include Onett, Winters, Fourside, Moonside, and Cave of the Past. All characters and text have been removed when recreating the game’s unique diagonal map.

The replica screens come in small or large sizes, framed in your choice of red, black, or natural wood. A manufacturing label and a serial number are included on the back. We will be taking orders for a limited time, and will only manufacture as many as are needed to fulfill those orders. We invite you to encapsulate this special world on your own walls.”

So if you’d like to welcome any of these high quality prints to your home, we recommend you put in an order A.S.A.P., you can easily place one through the English branch of the site here!

Smaller frames are priced at 16,500 yen ($139.43 USD, including tax and shipping), while larger frames are 37,400 yen ($316.09 USD.)

There’s also a very detailed preview video from famed Japanese MOTHER collector, Koala. So, we recommend you check that out if you want to see a closer look too!

Of course, there’s something else we’ve all been waiting for…a lot of things are planned for the future of the Hobonichi MOTHER Project, including a series of character plushies and statues! You may have seen photos of these prototypes already – since their sighting at MOTHER Plaza in Shibuya, there hasn’t been any update on when sales might begin. Of course, once that news breaks out, we’ll certainly let you know!
