A short and sweet video published on Hobonichi‘s YouTube channel forever changed the trajectory of the MOTHER series. On April 29th, 2020, fans were caught off guard with a simple announcement: “Hobonichi MOTHER Project has begun.”

The entire Nintendo community was sent by storm over the reveal of official MOTHER merchandise, soon to be released by this new line of Hobonichi products. The initial announcement came along with the promise of not only a book containing the script for all three MOTHER games, but more products in the future as well!

Ever since June 2020, Hobonichi MOTHER Project has continuously provided many new things for fans to be excited about, including:

• The Pollyanna Comic Book series, featuring art from Toby Fox (Undertale), Omocat (OMORI), Inio Asano (Goodnight Punpun) and even Toshinao Aoki (MOTHER 64!)
• A lineup of plushies, from giant Mr. Saturns, Claymen, and even the Chosen Four themselves!

It seems the project’s catalogue is expanding “almost daily,” with Hobonichi collaborating with companies such as Toppan Printing to produce high quality replica screens from locations in the games! If you ever take a trip to Japan and pop into a PARCO shop, you shouldn’t be surprised to find yourself suddenly entering a “MOTHER Department Store”! Hobonichi MOTHER Project is constantly hosting limited time pop up shops in PARCO locations and events all across Japan.
