The EarthBound Randomizer, created by stochaztic, is a program used to “randomize” bits and pieces of EarthBound into an entirely different game. This program is capable of randomizing enemies, items, battle backgrounds, sprites, shop items, enemy stats, you name it, and it’s possible with this! There are also several modes to choose from on the randomizer site as well!

How do I Use the Randomizer?

Glad you asked! The EarthBound Randomizer is a lot easier and simplified compared to its sister programs made by other developers (EarthBound Beginnings or MOTHER 3 Randomizers). For starters, you don’t need to download anything to get started randomizing. Simply dump your EarthBound game and utilize the website provided by stochaztic!

Unfortunately, we can not provide ROMS or anything of the sort, so you’ll have to find out how to dump your cartridge or Virtual Console version of the game. Please do not ask for a download link!

Current Features of the Randomizer:

• Randomizes gift contents, battle backgrounds, shop items, enemy stats, and so forth! Many possibilities and potential!
• There are three separate modes which are explained on the website. The modes are called Ancient Cave, Open, and Normal!
• You can use custom sprites made by the community or randomized vanilla sprites in the game.
• There are several customizable flags you can turn on or off based on what sort of experience you’d like to have while playing the EarthBound Randomizer.

How do I Run the EarthBound Randomizer?

You will need to find a copy of EarthBound. As stated above, we, unfortunately, can not provide you one. Our suggestion is to search a tutorial on how to homebrew your home console to get your copy of EarthBound as a ROM file, or search for an EarthBound ROM elsewhere.

Once you do find your ROM, you will need an emulator to run it. The emulators we recommend are below:

• Higan/Bsnes
• SNES9x
