The EarthBound Beginnings Randomizer, created by Agent Ape, is a program that randomizes enemies, items, overworld sprites, and some present boxes, as well as the game title! Originally this program was designed and made for the MOTHER 25th Anniversary fanfest, designed to shuffle the NES version of MOTHER 1 to keep things “fresh and interesting”, as they put it. It was more or less inspired by Tomato’s EarthBound Reshuffler. 

How do I Use this Program?

For starters, you’ll need to rename your EarthBound Beginnings or EarthBound Zero ROM, and put in the same file directory as the program. The Randomizer will then ask you what you would like to randomize. In the inevitable case that your computer does not support .exe files, the creator included a .py source code which can be run with Python.

The program randomizes:

• Enemies
• Item names
• Overworld sprites
• Some present boxes
• Game title
