Mother: Invasion From the Unknown, also known as Mother: Challenge From the Unknown, is a choose your own adventure book produced as promotional material for the first MOTHER game. The game poses the player with several choices to make to grow their party’s strength, collect five melodies, and defeat the alien invaders! As MOTHER was never released outside of Japan initially, this spin-off never saw a release either, though a fan translation was produced by artist and translator Nyaasu Nekoban.

Since then, MonkeyNess, in collaboration with a small team, have fully adapted the playable novella into a remastered visual novel!

The game can be downloaded directly here, and will eventually also be available in-browser! With several different endings to discover, and a world to save, enjoy this delve into Itoi’s America in a whole new way!
